Description
This is a finely crafted, hand-painted mask of the wrathful deity Mahakala, also known as the Great Black One or Lord of Death, a powerful protector figure in Himalayan and Tibetan Buddhism. The mask features intense, detailed expressions, a dark deep red and black finish, and is adorned with intricate, gilded (gold-color) patterns. Its detailed five-skull crown, symbolizing the transformation of the five kleshas (afflictions) into five wisdoms, and the fierce fangs and third eye, are all rendered with exceptional skill.
